Galor Class
« on: February 06, 2011, 09:05:41 PM »

Introducing the Galor class, modelled and textured by team member Adonis. The Galor class cruiser is the Cardassian Union's premier warship. It differs from conventional starship design in several ways. The vessel uses inboard warp nacelles and routes disruptors through its deflector arrays for greater power. Whilst it is the most widely used warship by the Cardassian military, it is still less powerful than the Keldon and Hutet classes.

looks Brilliant :D. and another thing i read there............HUTET CLASS.... evil ship that one, and i'm guessing its to be included in the game :P

Although you need some clearer shots of the beauty. Some seem too far away to see any detail.

I didn't think the physical model had the CG model's lights flanking the Aztec alter, although, the CG has them as concave tapering cylinders.

Never seen a more detailed model of the Galor, to say the least.

Always hated the Cardassian ships, but this sure has a prettiness, especially from afar when the glows increase.

Certainly the best in any of the games, including mods.  It's even has the weird blue line above the shuttle bay.

Looking at some non-game models, one thing that stands out are the hard edges.  It could really liven up the model if the engine could handle edge smoothing so the poly count doesn't explode.  That may be true for all the models, since the physical models generally don't have razor edges.

I'm looking forward the Keldon, but the Hutet... It has so much potential as a design, then again not every design in real life is pretty.

BTW, Lewis used an older version of mesh in those screens. I have made some fixes to her since. I could post some screens if you ppl can excuse the lack of AA in hem, I haven't been able to fix that issue at all on my rig.

EDIT: The mesh has 7.8k polies and uses one 2048x2048 map and a 512 one for the differences in lightning between the variations (TNG, early DS9 and CGI). The CGI one isn't finished yet.

The Hutet wont be exactly what people are expecting, I really like the model we have - its worth waiting for :)

This looks like a really well made model, Adonis. Accurate too. It's the only Galor model I've seen that actually looks like it's from the show. Can't wait to see more.

I always found the (original) Hutet, as displayed in Dominion Wars, to be somehow an overshoot. As if someone in the Cardie-zone had the idea to just make a Star Destroyer like beastie for the heck of it.

Every new ship is a step closer to completion!  Rather exciting and looks damn good there.  Though the glows, for my personal taste, are over powering on the ship.  I'd have to dial them back a little bit.

That model is definitely a work of art. Amazing job! It's astonishing how you manage so much detail with under 10k polies. Could actually have real fleet battles.

...Can't wait to send it spinning through space as molten, twisted slag -insert evil cackle-. Apologies to those who actually like the Galor as a ship >:3.

Damn, that really looks like the studio model. The attention to detail, like on the inside notch of the tail thing, is superb. Have a cookie.

I'm surprised you're making the four details at the nape of the neck, behind the deflector, have two apertures each, the models show it having an inner grill and outer opening. But, it looks like you're making them, and the back two, torpedo launchers, which is a great idea.  It's also good seeing the three copper things and the band on the deflector, it's always disappointing seeing it missing from the CG model.
