@Black: Well forgive me for posting in a language not native to me right after waking up. How foolish of me to think that my synapses were capable of handling the strain to talk in a language clearly superior to my native tongue...
As per the rest of your lines, congratulation on your opinion, but I'm not interested nor inclined to debate such matters with someone who emphasises grammar over discussion.

Do not ever invoke anyone on his knowledge of a language against him. It is low, it is rude, and has nothing to add to the discussion but insults. Not everyone knows English well, nor it is their native language.

Yeah, that was my bad, with the temp being as hot as it is here (and the amount of bad grammar and spelling on the internet) I didn't have a lot of patience. Sorry to everyone, and especially to Aresius. As a side point, it might be useful to add the option of national flags for profiles, or at least languages, so that we can easily see if someone is natively speaking English. Also, you're English is a lot better than quite a few native English speakers I know, if that makes you feel any better.

I'm not a VFX newbie, so you don't need to explain stuff to me, k?. I was talking about CGI vs. studio models, not what is and isn't VFX.

The Defiant only had one CGI model, it is streched vertically compared to the studio model, and appears till the end of the series. The credits Defiant is the studio model, those scenes where done with studio models.

Well I didn't know you're level of experience, so we've cleared that up, but it was still useful to say, even if only to establish both of our levels of understanding. Not to mention there are likely people who read the posts here who might not know about physical models and how they're shot for TV, not to mention all the complexity that comes with CGI.

I'm fairly certain that there was more than one model, but I'll go and check to be sure. It's possible that they edited the same model after someone caught the error.

Apology accepted.
I might react a bit overly intense to such criticism because I'm studying to become teacher ... for English...

Phew, I actually felt so bad about what I wrote that I couldn't sleep for hours last night, which was after I'd written my apology. Don't feel too bad whenever you see someone criticize your abilities online, it's happened to me on these forums, though that was because of a disagreement, not because of any specific ability.

How long have you been learning? As I said before, your English is still better than people I know who have learned it their entire lives, which I actually find common in non-native English speakers. I guess most people just sort of take it for granted.

I'm not a native English speaker - I live in Serbia, my native tongue is Hungarian, and I know Serbian too - but I've been learning the language since I was 4 :) and I'm a philosophy student, so go figure hehe.

Yeah, I do feel pretty bad about what I said, was just a spur of the moment thing and I just didn't think it through. I'm actually surprised at the number of non-native English speakers here, in general most people have pretty good writing, so it sort of comes out of nowhere to learn that they haven't been speaking it as much as I have. I do still stand by my statement that most non-native speakers can speak better than a large portion of the native speakers out there, one look at Facebook or the comment sections on major websites is enough to see that.

Well they do tend to have the benefit of speaking more than one language don't they ;) Plus, I read a lot in English too, Henry V awaits me after my exams are done in about 2 weeks

Urgh, Shakespeare, I don't know why but I've always thought his stuff was overrated, maybe because I had to read Macbeth in high school. Good luck with that, is it a modern reprint or the original? If it's the original then you're going to need a thesaurus or dictionary on hand, half the phrases and words he used are outdated now.

Back OT: I couldn't find much info about the Defiant CG model, but from memory I don't think there was much of a problem with the deflector in the later series, so they may have fixed that issue, or I just never noticed it. Without a side by side comparison it can be difficult to tell.

@Black: Technically studying English.. Since my fifth grade. That's 12 or 13 years ago, now. Modern kids already have English in their second grade.
But my mother, who's working as an advertisement manager and subsequently also has English customers, taught me English as long as I remember.
The majority of friends (both in the web and in real life) speak English with me, even my own mother does often (due to her fiancée being American and she's not rehearsing and training her English), I'm writing some books in English, have translated a few things here and there (books, flyers, articles for magazines, etc.). And quite frankly, there are times when I think in English, faster and easier than in my own mother-tongue. Scares the hell out of me, but I've come to see English as my primary tongue (not my mother tongue, but since I use it far more frequently... well, figure the rest. ;) ).

Ya don't say?  :D  (Although, it's not like I didn't notice it before. :P)

I'm from Novi Sad as well, actually sort of a bit more north even. Born in Novi Sad, lived there half my life, lived in Subotica the rest, and currently studying physics in Novi Sad (and, actually, will be moving there soon). It's nice to see another trekkie from Serbia here on the forums, and also from Újvidék. I'm actually "almost a half" Hungarian as well, but unfortunately don't know to speak the lingo that much at all, which I'm trying to remedy lately (you know the saying: “A man is worth as many men as he knows languages”). My mum didn't speak the language around me that much when I was young, because my dad didn't know it, so I never learned it as a kid. And from my experience it's much easier to learn a new language when you're young. I actually learned English before my school years watching cartoons! :D

And to add something on topic, I like the look of the transporter room, although it seems it doesn't have any normal or specular maps, although I do understand it's a WIP.

Had too much math, eh? I envy you.  As a matter of fact, I am studying astrophysics :) (physics - “subcategory” astrophysics). I was thinking of going for the teacher subcategory (among other things), you know, because of better chances of finding a job and stuff, but chose this eventually. I might change it in the future, but there's time...

O,.,O You've got to be kidding me...
I wanted to study astrophysics, but bad a-levels in math broke my back.
Now I study teachers post...
Geez, more and more of the same direction.

Math was the least of my issues with stuff there, I used to have regular clashes with a few professors over their lack of knowledge, or outdatedness of it.

Hehe, at least we now know that there are a few of us here ;)

But anyhow, we should continue this in another thread or through PM's
