I personally hope to see the Xindi ships modded in, since the odds of them being in the main game are probably one in a trillion.

after its release, im sure every ship imaginable will be done by someone at some point lol  :)
it is designed to be much more user-friendly and easy for modding, compared to other games like BC for example...

Indeed.

I'd also like to see the Century class Enterprise - F, and the Tiburon Class.

The Century Class is so awsome.....it break the model viewer everytime i try to load it :D

For me though i want to see a number of ships modded in that will look good. Zindi Sphere, Jelly fish from the new star trek. errrr i forgotten the one i really wanted to say.

But i am wondering with a percetage of ships are complete for STE :P

From Star Trek, I would like to see the complicated and unusual ships like the Xindi sphere and some of the wierd and wonderful TNG ships which have appeared over the course of its history (with more detail though, of course). Also, if the plans for a seperate control system for fighters come to fluition, I would love to see a wide range of fighter ships modded in - probably more fan designs than cannon ships, because most of the shuttles and stuff would be pretty boring with just phaser beam weapons and boxy hulls.

Of course, as a Stargate fan, I would love to see some SG ships modded in. No doubt someone will convert the BC SGPack (with or without Dave's permission :D ), but it would be nice to see ships such as Destiny and the later Ancient warships taking advantage of Excalibur's graphics technologies (ie, not just direct converts), as well as a few of the Tau'ri ships.

I hope that, providing not too much coding is needed (by coding, I guess I mean anything which isn't modelling), I will be able to create one or two Stargate-themed bridges and other rooms for the game with 3DS Max.

I personally like to the Super Star Destroyer (hint hint MR_7). Just imagine warping into a sector and seeing an 8 km behemoth overshadowing your ship. Also like to see some JJ inspired ships.

I think that the Destiny or any of the other Ancient ships might be a bit resource intensive, since much like the star destroyer, it has a lot of geometry that generates shadows, which Nano indicated can cause some slowdowns. I'm sure he'll come up with some way of balancing it, like having the shadow details for each ship be customizable, so it can be scaled down to a manageable level without making it look like Bridge Commander.

Personally I'd like to see some Halo ships, I can imagine a ship pack of Human and Covenant ships going at it would look fairly awesome. :D

Especially the Covenant ones. With their hulls smeared with light they can be downright pretty.

I'm hoping on something from the Stargate series.

I think some of the Homeworld ships would look cool and i'm not a big fan of horror but I think the event horizon would look sweet surrounded by like a nebula. (peed my pants watching that movie when I was little)

Any ship  from Halo, Stargate, And Homeworld, would make this game more awesome, On another note, What will the max poly count be for the Engine, BC can do 160k.

It probably depends on your graphics card, since they all have individual limits, as well as the amount of texture memory and ram available. It also depends on how well the engine can optimize LOD (level of detail) in order to squeeze the maximum amount of detail without melting the card. Have to wait for one of the devs for a more concrete answer I'm afraid, but I haven't heard much about poly limits in most modern engines, since so much is done with shaders that that's the more likely bottleneck.

You all do realize that once this is all said and done we can finally put to rest some very heated arguements.

We can actually program Star Trek ships and Star Wars ships and see which would actually come out to be the victor!

I want to have the whole Star Wars universe created up and plop in just ONE Borg Cube.  Just one.  Let the computer run on auto and see how long it takes before the whole galaxy would be all Borg.

The problem with that is how do you balance the two sides? In order to program both sides accurately you'd need hard numbers, facts about how the ships work, information that simply doesn't exist from a reliable source.

You would need one mean computer to simulate an entire universe  .

Indeed. But then you'd get even more arguments about the size of ships and rate of fire and all the technical things that people don't tend to consider unless they have to actually program a game.
