star trek interiors demo

I found an old dead ST mod that focussed on mapping the interiors of the Ent D. There's an alpha release and a bunch of vids showing a more developed version. Kinda impressive gfx for such a small release.

Not bad.

I think the ST:E interior devs can make that a lot better.  From the interior shot we have seen thus far, I would say that the STE interiors are much better.  That is what initially caught my eye on this project!  Good find ZZZ!  It is good source matter and concept material for 3D plotting and interior development.  Thanks.

The only thing that detracts from this project's quality are the material settings, since they're generally too shiny. The head bobbing too is annoying. Other than it is rather excellent, the engine even has a good level of motion blur, and really good depth of field adjustments. What really catches my eye are the LCARS displays. It's probably just the material settings but the variation in coloration is a huge improvement.

The demo is neat, I really like how it works like the actual sets by allowing you to turn engineering on and off to make it a corridor. Mildly funny and interesting. It made me realize something I had forgotten, all of the corridors in Star Trek are right near the center of the ship, when you consider the rate of turn of the corridors we always see. I hope we see corridors with gentler turning in STE.

We had contact with that guy back in the old days.. 2008 i think.
The tech demo was done in the old Q3 engine (IIRC), and that's why some of the shaders didnt look that beautiful for corrent standards, anyway i think it's a very nice modelling work.

I think you will see much better that this.  Here are some of the interior designs that are WIP's for ST:E

yes, I seen that pictures before, but I still don't understand if I would be capable to freely walk inside whole ship, or only in parts of ship. (in ST Ex.)
but, this is irelevant, because whole game will be gorgeous. will not?

Yes, the interiors look fantastic!!!

I am not sure as to how far the ST:E team will go when modeling the interface for interiors.  That's where I come in.  I will mod a fully functioning interior terminal expansion and first person movement within the ship.  I will release incremental modds that will allow greater access to the ship with each release.  First, will be the bridge terminal expansion.  Other expansions are to follow.  I need to know how ST:E will incorporate the system functions into scrips and data edit them.  Simply pointing the commands to another place.  It will be hard work,  but will provide a much more detailed experience.

I second that!

Been overviewing my scripts.  Well, there basically plots for code and a flow chart, but at least I have a road map of what I will do.  Still, this thing could kick into high gear soon.  Waiting is the hardest part.   :arms:

really good   :D

Yes.
Very good examples of what is known as "continuous fabrication".  This is a simple palate with about 3 or 4 different hallways.  They are joined together at simple intersections to create the illusion of long hallways and corridors.  This approach works great with every ship type, how ever, you would need about 5 to 7 different hallway/corridor/turbo lift designs for each ship type.  Doors, that are not significant, can be random rooms that can be easily be generated.  Primary rooms have specific places.  Once you reach the right deck, corridor palates will be created with the 1 (or several, depending on how many special rooms are on this deck) special door that accesses the special room.  Simple really.  A great trick piece of computer generated illusions for you to go and explore that will not require uber amounts of computing power to do.  Lookiong forward to either enhancing, or doing this.  It will be fun.

I think it's amazing that a TV set trick can be just as handy in a game.

I suppose, but it's quite logical too:

TV companies want to buy/built as little as possible, and modelers want to have to model as little as possible

The only two things I didn't like on the vid was the rather transporter-like effect when entering the turbolift, Elite Force 2 had that managed better.
The other was the overly swimming bobbing of the head.

I here ya Ars,

I am sure the ST:E team will not have these effects when roaming the ship.  Roaming the ship should be simple and fluid.  No need for crazy bobbing or disjointed corridors.

Bobbing in general is very annoying, be it of hand held objects, or the head. A bobbing camera is extremely annoying, because if your head moves you don't see the world as bobbing, your eyes or mind compensate.
