Nope, not too late. :-)  In about 1 month (if all goes well) we should be ready. :-)

Good cause there was a warning in the post section stating don't post if the last post was over a month ago. And it barely was.

About a month, you say? good That will give me time to learn IronPython.

The nature of the recruitment section makes it somewhat of a special case.  :-)

KernelChizz is an old friend of mine. Aint seen him around in quite some time, and I put him on track to this site, check out what you guys are doing. Perhaps his talents will eventually be suited for the project. I know he's a big fan of Star Trek, which is a big plus in my book from the get go :P

hi, It seems like a very interesting project you guys are undertaking and I might be interested in joining your team.

About Me.
I currently work as a Software engineer coding with VB.net (up to .net framework 3.0), Com+ dlls, VB6, ASP.net, XML and Microsoft SQL Server (Stored Procedures/Schemas/Views etc) to an advanced level in the financial sector. I also have experience using Visual Source Safe for source code control, VMware for development environments and I am used to adhering to strict coding standards. Additionally I have intermediate skills working with Delphi, Java, C++ so I have very good oop knowledge and experience from a business background. I have good working knowledge of the Linux operating system and I am confident working from command line Linux (without the X gui). I also have good skills working with HTML, JavaScript, XML and PHP and while I have not had much contact with Python I am very confident that it shouldn't take long to pick up.

My education is as follows. I have a BEng (Hons) Degree in Communication and Electronic Engineering from Manchester. I am a professional Member of the British Computer Society (MBCS). I have completed several Microsoft training courses through work and I am currently studying for my Exam in Software Testing. I am planning to go to Liverpool to study an MSc in Advanced Computer Science to complete my Chartered Engineering Certificate (CEng).

I am a good long time friend of DarkThunder and oh yeah a HUGE fan of Star Trek..

If I could be of help let me know.

My only fear is that you might be OVER qualified :P

Hope the team finds some use for your skills.

I don't have any experience with Python, but I have a decent amount of experience in the .Net framework using C# and a smidge of VB (along with Team Foundation Server and Visual Source Safe for source control).  I also have some experience with C/C++ as well as XML.  My current job requires that I know the basics behind OOP and event-driven techniques, so I am familiar with both.  I am more than willing to learn Python (pretty sure I can grasp the basics relatively quickly) if you guys think I could be of any use.  I am also willing to work the project from either the Excalibur side or the NanoFX side, whichever you guys think I would be better suited for.

I just found out about this project recently and I am incredibly impressed.  I'd love to be ale to lend a hand where I can.

Actually, I heard about you guys on the Armada 2 FleetOps forums.  I was amazed that I hadn't heard about this project earlier, but then again, I haven't been watching the BC modding community like I used to.  I'm surprised there isn't a little more buzz about you guys.

Ah well I've only being handling PR for Excalibur for 6 weeks now and I'm making the rounds on as many forums as possible including Fleet Ops (I am "STExcalibur" on there).

Well I am sure Mark or LC will contact you soon!

I don't mean to imply that you aren't doing your job well, just that I've been more out of it than I thought.  It was actually you who would appear to have gotten my interest initially with your posts there.  I look forward to hearing from you guys  :D

We're currently using IronPython 1.1.1, although we may migrate to IronPython 2.X at some point.

Hi

If you are still looking for UI scripters, i would be very interested in helping out.

A little about my experience, i've been working as a software developer for the last 3 years, using primarily .Net (vb and c#), i've also been working with Flex (ActionScript 3) alot lately, and have a good knowledge of LUA (Scripting language). Although i have little experience with python i'm sure i can pick that up very quickly.

I developed my own game in my spare time before, although not released. So i have an idea as to what goes into game development.

And last but not least, i've been a great fan of Star Trek for as long as i can remember.

I've a BEng in Software Engineering. Mainly studied Java but it's similar to Python.

http://www.stexcalibur.com/forum/index.php/topic,4612.0.html

I started setting out a "potential" UI. I've ensured the only actions you can trigger are those that have been seen in previous ST combat games or are built upon features you've mentioned. Most of the actions and layouts are universal and can be accomodated by other canon ship conns. It's still less complicated than any naval or flight sim, each sub-display has self explanatory labels and core functions are immediately accessible. I've done Conn and Transporters, but I've got Ops and Tactical ready to go. I think non-essential panels like Environmental controls can be skipped unless you want to simulate zero-gravity inside a ship.

If you want someone with previous Python experience I could still do state machines for all GUI interfaces if you think it'll help. Just typing out all the functions takes hours and it would be one less thing for the UI scripter to do, and it always helps to have the whole thing laid out so it can be refined instead of having to change the actual UI code on the fly.
